What is Naturopathy?
Naturopathy is an eclectic system of healthcare, which encourages the body’s own natural self-healing mechanisms using a combination of nutrition, exercise, sunshine, water, air and rest. Naturopaths frequently have a special interest and Rachel’s is herbal medicine and natural nutrition. All consultations with her will benefit from this two-pronged approach drawing on her knowledge of both these modalities.
• Treat the individual and not the disease label
• Treat the underlying cause of a disease/imbalance not just the symptoms
• Recognise that every person is unique and will respond in their own way
• Naturopaths believe that prevention is better than cure and so sustainable, lifestyle solutions are sought where possible.
• Work with the body and mind, removing any blockages to healing whilst providing the body with the raw materials it needs to stimulate healing
Essentially, a Naturopath is a natural health educator aiming to empower patients to take responsibility for their own health in the long-term via simple dietary adjustments and natural lifestyle adaptations.
Platinum’s Unique Approach:
We work very closely with the philosophy of the cell as we are made of about 70 trillion of them. Each cell has a vibrational charge and a physical structure, which has to be maintained for optimal transport of vital nutrients and fluids. Every one of these cells needs water, essential fatty acids and a predominantly alkaline environment to thrive (pH 7.3-7.4 ideally). The way we think and how and what we eat affects this environment enormously. How to remain in an alkaline state where possible is a main focus here at Platinum Healing. “Ninety-five percent of our genes are activated by the environment not by the genetics.” Dr Bruce Lipton – Epigenetics Scientist.
Cancer, heart disease and diabetes are the main killer diseases in USA and UK. These diseases manifest mainly as a result of too much acidity in the body. These diseases and many others can be preventable, or symptoms greatly reduced, through simple dietary and lifestyle adjustments that are achievable by all.
What to expect in a consultation?
In an initial consultation (75-90 minutes), we will initially discuss your main health concerns and aims before gathering a whole host of information regarding your diet, lifestyle, family history, emotional state and your most commonly experienced symptoms. After this we check your pulse and blood pressure (where indicated) as well as take a look at your tongue and both irises (iridology). All this information combines to gives us a detailed current health picture for you and enables a bespoke treatment plan to be drawn up (+/- medical herbs) to suit your specific personal needs. Most Naturopaths will follow their patients up after a few weeks to see they are getting on and offer further support, tools and guidance which can further help your healing journey to better health and longevity.
Who may benefit from Naturopathy:
Anyone with a chronic or acute health issue will benefit. Naturopaths regularly treat skin conditions, digestive disorders, fertility concerns, hormonal issues, low energy, weight gain or loss, recurrent headaches/migraines, those with allergies/intolerances and even common complaints like hay fever, constipation or recurrent coughs and colds. Some patients are in good general health but want an MOT to make sure all their systems are functioning optimally.
